Hanna phosphate

My hanna phosphate tester must be broken it keeps reading 1.0 to 1.24 for the last week and a half so i thought it was right so i started gfo and water changes which ended up causing sps to start dying which lead me to believe there was a issue how do you fix the hanna or do you just buy a new one ? I am so mad about how much damage was done by this tester

You can buy standards that are put into the unit to check if its reading correctly.

Dilute the aquarium water by 50% with freshly prepared saltwater and measure the PO4. Assuming no PO4 in the new saltwater, PO4 should be halved.
