I got a Hanna alk and calcium tester pretty sure I got how to use it but l have a couple of questions.. #1 is the flip top on the tester supposed to be “hard” to open I have to push it to the side and pop it.. just nervous about breaking the hinge..#2 when you draw the reagent into the 1 mil syringe is it really necessary to attach the extra tip isnt 1 mil 1 mil?

My lids pop open easily, and no I never attach the extra tip for my Alk.

my lids are tight too so just be careful while they are wearing in when they ate new. The tiny tips are not a have to, but you will notice that when using them there is a ridge line which perfectly matches the measurement and the tip helps to get the entire measure without a tiny bit being stuck at the end of the syringe tip. Its like the addition of the new syringe, its there for a reason as some are simply not exercising due care, which will give very inconsistant readings. My Hanna Cal always tests higher compared to RedSea. RS 390, Hanna 460.
