Can someone explain the difference between the Hanna Refractometer vs. Milwaukee Refractometer...?

Or is the Hanna just a rebranded Milwaukee at a much higher price...?

My understanding is that these two units are functionally (if not actually) interchangeable). I really like mine (the Milwaukee).

I believe the stick can be about 0.2 off while this isn’t as well as the stick is good for if you have like a few tanks but if your checking constantly pulling out a sample and putting it in this is much easier as well as the calibration with the stick is monthly compared to this which is longer In simple the stick is good for the average person

Im pretty sure they are the same unit and made in the same place. I do wonder which is better regarding the light based one and the conductivity one. My Hanna pen has started to read .001 off, but that is withing the acceptance rate.

I have the Milwaukee and Hanna stick, wanna buy the Milwaukee Too many issues with the Milwaukee, I would stay with the white ones

Well, according to Hanna - the less expensive one is the "better" one for saltwater aquariums.

The stick ($69) measures conductivity - which is a better measurement for saltwater aquariums.

The Refractometer ($180) measures Refractometery.

Go figure - for the fist time in this hobby the cheaper one is the better one!

After researching it, it appears that the Hanna stick has 2 major drawbacks

1) it's accuracy is questionable compared to the other options

2) It uses special (and spendy) calibration fluid where the others are designed to be calibrated with RODI water

After the Black Friday sale dropped the Milwaukee down to $89 shipped, I went with it. Got really tired of constantly needing to calibrate my Red Sea refractometer and I can never seem to find the right lighting to see it very clearly (maybe my eyes are starting to go bad).
