In regards to the hanna HR NO3 & ULR NO4 testers... I see many fellow reefers post NO3 results as 4 or 0.3 or 0.20 or similar and same for the NO4. They will post 10 or .020. Im just confused as to what the results are suppose to be. Like mine right now are PO4 0.33 & NO3 8.7. I know my PO4 is high and im working on lowering it but am I aiming for 10 or 1 or 0.10? Same for my NO3 am I aiming for .03 or .3 or 0.10 or .10? What should my results be? I think the decimal points are what confuse me. Im not shooting for an ULM reef with rim to rim SPS. More of a mixed of mostly LPS and a few SPS. I have bit tangs and I know it will hard to keep the numbers low with them. Thanks for your help.

for po4 you looking for 0.03-0.1 and no3 anywhere 5-10 is fine

Ohh NO3 0.5-1.0? Im think the hanna reading is whats confusing me cause im like how is that decimal point moving over...

is 0.1=0.10 and whats 5-10 = 0.5 - 0.10?

if it's less than 1.0 there's a problem with your nitrates. p04-phosphate should be the only thing at less than .1

So when I see someone post that their NO3 is 3 and PO4 is 5 that means 0.03 and 0.05? And when you say less than .1 you mean 0.10 right?

if they say 5 i would assume there talking about .5 but i would have to see a post like that whenever someone is talking about po4 your usually talking in the decimal place of tenths so .5 or .1 so yes it would be .10 and no no3 or nitrate is always as a whole number low range nitrate normally will have something like 8.5 or something of the sort

Thanks so much for helping me... So my NO3 is 8.7 and I need to drop it to 1.0 - 1.5. My PO4 is 0.33 and I need to drop it to 0.03 - 0.10 ?

can you maybe send a pic of the hanna checker readings so i can understand what your seeing better? but if the numbers your showing me are correct no3 is right where it should be po4 yes i would work on dropping that to 0.03 - 0.10

So is the NO3 range you recommender on this checker 0.50 - 10.0 and thats why 8.7 is good? And on this checker is 2-10 ppm 0.2 - 10.0? Saw this in another post.

Just dummy me should have payed more attention in math lol!
Heh. Hopefully you have it all figured out now. I need to work on my PO4 also. Our levels are pretty similar.

Yeah... that table cleared everything up. I was just having trouble with the zeros and decimal points but now that I know what my checkers read out as I'm good. My NO3 was very high until I started using NoPox. Now they are in a good place. Unfortunately they haven't done anything for my PO4. I started using Rowaphos again as it did work for me in the past in conjunction with Phosphate-E. My PO4 was so high the checker could not give me a read out. Phosphate-E brought it down after about a month of dosing and then Rowaphos brought me down the rest of the way. I thought NoPox would lower and maintain both but that's not the case. At least for now. I just hate that I have to use so much Rowaphos to make a dent and it gets exhausted weekly. Hopefully it comes down to where I can just change it monthly like ive read others do.
