I have the Hanna ULR Phophorus meter and I must say it is a very good unit that produces consistent results. It could be a bad batch of reagents or it could be that you guys have a very low nutrient level and if for example you utilise carbon dosing and heavy GFO use, that your phosphates are below the detection level of this photometer. I started cycling my rocks about a month ago and have measured the phosphate level (converted from phosphorus) to fall from 0.03 to lower lower than 0.01ppm. I dosed Prodibio and as expected I saw the general trend of the phosphate level dropping over time. To check if your meters are working, test someone elses water or use your tank water to rinse some frozen fish food and let the debris settle (filter the water if possible), this phosphate loaded water should give a reading. End of the day, if the meter is faulty contact Hanna. My first unit gave eratic results, I sent the whole lot to Hanna and they sent a replacement unit back with an box of extra reagent as well.
