Hanna vs Refractometer salinity discrepancy

After testing a bunch of different devices against ICP... My Hanna is always super close to the ICP results for salinity. So that is all I'm using now. As a bonus, it's the easiest device to use, clean, and calibrate.

OK mine has been off from icp so.

Maybe you got a bum unit?

When was the last time you calibrated it?
And after calibration, did you stick it back in the solution to see if read 35ppt? Mine always reads 35 or worst case, 34.9ppt after calibration. Always close.

And when I run ICP tests, it's either spot on the same or within .3-.4 ppt. Close enough.

Yes, calibrated have numerous calibration bags from hanna. Stick back in reads 35.i am going to grab some of hanna liquid and test on my refrac to see the reading

I don't think you can use a conductivity fluid on a refractometer....

So if the Hanna is calibrating properly, what makes you think it's wrong?
