Hey everyone. Pretty new to the hobby, have been maintaining a small 20 gallon nano for a while now and absolutely love the rewards of keeping a reef tank. I recently decided to upgrade and went with the IM Nuvo Int 75 so I will probably be asking a lot of questions regarding equipment selection and your experiences with them. Anyways glad to be on R2R, seems like an excellent community.

The nitrogen cycle is only the startup of a SW tank cycle. The next 6-12 months is a maturing phase, and it's typically in this time frame where algae outbreaks occur and things can sort of roller-coaster, and if you stock the tank up too quickly, you might see corals randomly dying & fish getting sick, etc...hobbyists can very easily fall into the trap of chasing problems = making more problems => giving up and selling everything off. We don't want that to happen to anyone!

Long-term stability and balance are the keys, and you just can't shortcut the process significantly. That's always the #1 thing to keep in mind!
 
Thanks everyone! Will post some photos tomorrow when I get home. Wife and I are headed out of town tonight to catch a 311 show. But as for the new tank probably won't be till the end of September before I even have a drop of water in it. I have 6k of gear that I need to buy first and try to keep the wife from seeing the bill. Here is a pic of the dry fit on the plumbing, still need to add a neptune flow meter and finish the lines when my sump gets here.
