Wife tolerates, but way less than ok with, what is the most Logical place in the house for a qt. Considering putting it in my fish room. provided pics for opinions. Fish room is right off the insulated garage and the furnace is in The fish room so I’m sure this will adequately help with the water temp. Never had a problem maintaining g temp in my mixing stations.
Other consideration is my mixing station is only about 3 ft of separation. Opinions on using this location for qt?

As long as you are able to monitor the qt and keep the qt water from cross contaminating the fresh water it should be fine.

At the risk of taking this into the realm of marital advice...
If the fish room option doesn't work, and depending on how long/how often you plan to have the QT set up, you might compare it to potty training a new puppy - no one wants pee-pads all over the house, but it's temporary and the end result outweighs the alternative.

The fish room is the ideal location for her. Lol.

So you wouldn’t really worry about airborne cross contamination?

I guess I can't complain, my wife "let's" me keep my qt tanks in our bedroom...lol

Well she still lets me. But she was diagnosed with high anxiety and extreme depression years ago. Her biggest anxiety trigger is things being out of place. She has never said anything abkut it but she has her subconscious tells every time she walks by it. So long as I’m everything fits in I can do what I want how I want where I want.
it turns out that watching the dt has a very calming effect on her anxiety so that helps a lot! Lol.

Generally this can be well limited with adequate covering on all the tanks - a much bigger issue the things that are wet going between tanks.
Not necessarily the ideal spot for a qt, but if it has to work it can.

My holding tanks have lids that only get opened when I add salt.
As far as cross contamination from wet bucket sand nets etc I have doubles that are labeled for what goes where.

I meant no disrespect, just poking fun at the age old married couple power struggle...lol
Bottom line is it's all a give and take right...if you can make it work and it helps your wife than peoblem solved and move on to bigger things right!!
I'm glad the display tank is a help for your wife :)

Not an electrician or anything but pretty sure your home owners insurance won’t cover you if your house burns down having fish tanks next to your furnace. Just remodeled and redid my electrical and my coworker who’s a master electrician forced me to move mine before she would even touch my electrical.

You're a good husband. It's hard sometimes for partners of people with mental health conditions to understand and do things that really help. Hugs to you and your wife :smiling-face:

The location doesn't matter - However - I can tell you from personal experience - the small salt particles that are in the air - can turn your copper pipes blue, etc.

That is possible, especially with only a three foot separation. However, your mixing tanks have lids, if you put just a bit of positive air pressure in them, you won't have any real issues, as long as you don't let any tank tools or hands go from tank to tank without sterilizing them first.

I YOLO it with my fish because the wife already doesn't enjoy the tank that much so there's no way in hell I can't get away with a qt as well. luckily my lfs qts fish before sale and then in the display tanks they're in salinity and copper.
