I've got these hard green bubbles growing in my refugium. I didn't think bubble algae was hard...is theft what I this is?

Agreed. That is definitely bubble algae. Remove as much of it as you can, in a separate bucket. Breaking the bubbles in the tank releases spores that cause it to spread more. Bubble algae has caused many a reefer to restart their tanks. In my experience Vibrant works on bubble algae, but it takes a long time. Like 8-12 weeks. Never overdose and you'll be fine. Just watch your nutrient levels.

Just remove them from the rock while doing a water change you can relocate them to the waste water and pick or scrub them off and then return them to your tank although I remove them from my tank without removing the rock using a 1/4 inch air tube, tweezers or my fingers if they are large like those on your rock.

Each bubble is one cell, the largest single celled organisms in the world.
Nick named sailors eyeballs.
They reproduce by budding at the base, no spores inside the bubbles.

Ventricosa is not the valonia he's dealing with. I'd wager most, if not all, bubble algae found in a reef tank is valonia macrophysa which does release internally forming new cells.

dreaded bubble algae im still looking for a real cure to it as it always seems to come back. The only way i got rid of it completely was muriatic acid to my rocks and cutting all corals off of their bases. Anyone actually had luck getting it all out forever?

I only have this in my refugium, I hear I may have my desjardini tang to thank for that. Manually removed it all, thanks team.
