Looking for suggestions before I install my SW mixing station. I would like to know your preferred way to do water changes from a mixing station without carrying a bucket. I can either install hard plumbing pipe to pump old water from my tank, using the return pump, and dumping it down a drain and have the pump on the mixing station pump fresh saltwater to the tank. The other way that I can think of is to install a Neptune DOS between the tank and the mixing station. I think both have there advantages. The hard plumbing would be nice because I can get a lot of water out of the tank faster than the DOS. The DOS would be more simple to use IMO. So to the ones that have done water changes this way or that way or both or someone has another idea feel free to share. much thanks

I have done both and my only issue with the dosing pumps is that I like to manually symphonic detritus. The dose takes water out but not detritus. Just understand that you will likely still have to do some syphoning even with the dose.

Drain it out and pump it in.

After careful consideration and with you all’s input I have come to my conclusion! I am going to set it up for both haha at least hard plumb it for water changes in the beginning and later down the road I can just add the DOS

I built mine the way I did so I could use it on more than one tank
wink, wink, nudge, nudge

Say no more.

Perhaps my cultural references are becoming dated.
