im having a hard time dialing in my overflow. Right now I’m running tap water to look for leaks. The only way I can get it silent is if I close the gate valve completely. I’m hearing gargling noises from the full siphon and no water gets to the trickle drain at all.

There should not be any air in the full siphon at all. You may have some issues with the full siphon starting if you have an el in your plumbing...the straighter the better. A long horizontal run can also cause problems there.

Do you have the hole in the trickle drain? Do you have the gate valve on the full siphon? How far under water is the tip of your drains?

If you completely close the gate valve all the water would have to go down the open standpipe(trickle drain). That should be very noisy.

Can you post some pictures of the tops of your standpipes and the plumbing below the tank.

All the noise is coming from the slurping of the full siphon within my overflow box.
The water doesn’t have the ability to get to the standpipe (trickle) because all the water is going down the full siphon.

Unfortunately I do have a couple of turns and horizontal runs due to have a have my plumbing setup.

Yes I do have a hole drilled into my standpipe.

Is the full siphon the one on the left? Is it the one with the gate valve?

What kind of return pump are you running? How many gallons/hour?

Water should be almost to the top of the full siphon standpipe.

Try shutting the gate valve all the way off again and then open it 1/2 turn at a time until you see just a few tiny bubbles coming out of the open standpipe.

Return pump is a vectra L1.
I can get it to run how it’s supposed to but I have the have Spears gate valve practically closed.

Looks to me like your full siphon is way too high. I dont even use the elbows, stub it up an inch or two, just enough to get a strainer on it.
