I am turning my 180g aquarium from a high tech planted into a reef tank. The current plumbing to the sump has hard water stains built up in them. I dont really want to rebuild all my plumbing if I dont have to.

Is there any problems with this being there? I did dose fertalizers but also had lots of fw inverts (snails and shrimp) that lived no problem.

O just finished using muriatic acid to de-scale my tank and remove coralline algae and hard water stains. I don't think that the hardwater build up will impact a planted tank but removing the deposits might make the set-up look nicer, if it bothers you.

To clarify it is just inside the PVC pipes. Its all brown and meh inside the tubes. The tank is spotless

I wouldn't be concerned at all then. It's going to be a nice improvement to have a reef where the planted tank once was.

Copy, just making sure before I push this 100000 lb beast back to the wall lol.

I am doing a light vinegar scrub.

I stopped using vinegar when I found out that it can ruin impeller magnets, but it is fine for this application unless you are pushing it through with an impeller pump?
