Harlequin Shrimp is too efficient at eating starfish.

I bought a Harlequin Shrimp 4-5 or so months ago to take care of the hundreds of asterina starfish living in my 180g. I assumed he would live a long healthy life since I had so many starfish for him. Well, he has cleaned house and I am running low on starfish. I would rather not turn him back into the fish store. Any other options?

You can always feed him. I used to feed my pair a chocolate chip starfish or round up asterina's from local hobbiest.

I removed mine after the asterinas were gone. Before I fed it a chocolate chip star once a week. I could not justify a $10 starfish a week for 1 shrimp.

You can keep a starfish alive and cut a leg off a week so it grows back, it seems kind of gruesome. Or buy one a week freeze it and feed it that way. How often I'm unsure of.

This is where reefing clubs come in. You pass it along until you need it back. But yes, they eat a lot.
