Could 10 astrian starfish a week sustain a pair? Was thinking about getting them. But I don't want to feed expensive stars when I can get hitch hikers by the Penny's. Instead of 20$ a week for a star fish.

I've never had Harlequins, but friends who did use to keep chocolate starfish in their sump and serve it a leg at a time. This way it lasts maybe about a month. I just couldn't did it....that is, chop up a starfish for the sake of feeding the Harlequins.

What I found interesting was that as soon as they put a "new" starfish in there sump, the Harlequins knew it was there.....I'm guessing smelling it in the water???

I've read how most feed them. Just would be easier and more cost effective if you could stay away from chopping a leg once a week. Not to mention the uneaten portions messing with parameters. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Plus I have a 40g all in one. So no sump for them to be housed.

Just a thought, but surely there's something on the seafood market maybe? Not sure if starfish is something people commonly eat...
