Harlequin Tusk and Dragon Wrasse Compatibility

Finalized my stocking list for my 125 predator tank and would like some info from the wrasse experts. Im ready to start adding fish and plan on stocking with the following.

Maroon Clown w/BTA
Marine Beta
Dragon Wrasse (juvenile)
Australian Harlequin Tusk
Humu Picasso Trigger

Has anyone kept these two wrasse species together, or am I asking for trouble? I built the tank with a deep sand bed specifically for wrasses that bury in the sand. I have multiple caves and hiding places set up with my aquascaping so everyone has their own home except for the clown which will utilize the BTA as home...and the Dragon will bury at night so there's room left over. Will this be sufficient for the Tusk so he wont go on a Dragon slaying adventure? Thanks!

I am thinking about adding a "Australian Harlequin Tusk" to my predator tank build with a juvenile Dragon Wrasse. I have seen to adults in a large FOWLER tank at my LFS with other triggers and angles (all adults) with no problems. The TUSK looks so tiny in this group of giants. My guy at the store says keep them all well feed and no problems.

Second. My lfs has a 5" harlequin Tusk in a tank with wrasses, clowns, tangs, seems to do just fine.

Thanks guys! I think I'm going to forgo the Dragon Wrasse and replace him with a Seagrass Wrasse if I can find one...same family but not as aggressive and max size of 6 inches. Although it may have a milder personality, it should help keep the bio load down in the long run after everyone reaches max size.

My Dragon wrasse is the life of the tank...I would get it if size is not an issue. This guy has been on this planet and in a tank several life times

I’ve had a maroon clown and a Tuskfish have major issues in a previous 300gal. From memory I’m pretty sure the Tuskfish took offence to the clown and gave it hell. One day I lost the Tuskfish when it jumped out and when I replaced it the Maroon seemed to remember and for quite some time gave the new Tuskfish hell. No idea whether your Tuskfish and maroon clown are likely to have problems but I’ve seen it before. You do have other more dominant fish though which I didn’t.

Believe me, I want one really bad just due to their personality, but with all the other fish once they reach max size, I think I would be overcrowding and cause major aggression issues in the end between the tusk, trigger, and dragon. I may have to set up a species tank for a dragon at some point.

I think the maroon will be occupied with her anemone as long as the tusk leaves them both alone. I'll definitely keep an eye on them though. Thanks!

For whatever it adds to the discussion, I have a Harlequin Tusk with a 6-7” Lunar Wrasse (both very active), in a 6’ tank. No problems whatsoever. In fact the H. Tusk bothers no type of fish I have at all.

I would recommend an acclimation box for a few days to see how the clown reacts.

I asked my LFS guy about the same thing then he pointed out he had the same fish in the same tank with other killers. they were as calm as can be...no aggression at all. what i will say is the dragon wrasse lacked the personality of mine but the tank was also bare bottom. with any of these fish alone with other fish aggression would be an issue. they have to be more than just fed...that means well fed at all times. they will get in a frenzy and kill anything the backs away from it.
