I ADDED A 5-6 INCH AUSTRALIAN TUSK FISH. IT WAS HELD A WEEK AT MY LFS. I HAVE PUT IT IN A 29 GALLON BIO CUBE, I HAVE BEEN USING AS A QUARANTINE TANK. THE TUSK SEEMS VERY UNHAPPY AND REALLY HAS NO ROOM TO SWIM. I AM THINKING IT MIGHT BE BETTER TO FORGO QUARANTINE AND PUT IT DIRECTLY INTO MY DISPLAY TANK.

WHAT IS EVERYONE'S THOUGHTS ON THIS

Do not listen to these people saying that you should not add same happened with mine I added him into the DT and he got so much better now mine has been in my tank for 4 years

If the qt is too small and you don’t want to risk your DT buy or borrow a longer tank, a 40 breeder or 55 gallon is probably ok for 4 weeks of qt.

IT COULD POSSIBLY INFECT THE REST OF YOUR FISH WITH ICH OR SOME OTHER PARASITE.

I DID OPT TO TAKE A CHANCE. I HAVE NO INVERTS OR CORAL, SO I AM TAKING A CHANCE. MY MARINE BUDDY OWNS A FISH STORE AND HE GOT IT FOR ME FROM QUALITY MARINE I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEIR FISH

YES I LISTENED THE 29 GALLON WAS TOO SMALL HE MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE DIED THERE. I HAD NOTHING BUT FISH. I HAD COPPER SAFE AND WOULD HAVE TREATED AT WORST, TUSK SEEMS MUCH BETTER AT LEAST HE IS SWIMMING AROUND NOW

I PUT IT IN DT I USUALLY HAVE A55G TANK FOR A QUARINTINE TANK. SPRUNG A LEAK AND I DID NOT REPLACE IT

EVERYONE I TRIED TO POST IT APPEARS AS USUAL THEY ONLY AREINTERESTED IN THE SUPPLIER. I TRANSFERRED THE TUSK IT WAS DEAD IN THE MORNING TO DATE NO DISEASE PROBLEM NO AFFECT ON OTHER FISH. THE FISH WAS CAPTURED BY CYANIDE USE, THE SUPPLIER IS A FRIEND OF MINE FROM OUR MARINE DAYS, HE GAVE ME THE FISH AT COST 220.00 . HE PURCHASED THE FISH FROM QUALITY MARINE. I WROTE QUALITY MARINE OF THE PROBLEM, AND THEY SHOULD TALK TO THE COLLECTOR, I ALSO ASKED THEY CREDIT MY FRIEND. I AM SAD TO REPORT QUALITY MARINE CONDONES THE CAPTURE OF FISH WITH CYANIDE. MANY FISH DIE FROM CYANIDE POISONING BEFORE THEY EVEN REACH THE NETS, THIS IS DEPLETING STOCK AND INCREASING OUR COSTS OF FISH. I ASKED QUALITY MARINE TO CREDIT MY FRIEND. I MUST REPORT NO CREDIT QUALITY MAINE CONDONES CAPTURE BY CYANIDE AND THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE BEHAVIOR OF QUALITY MARINE.

It seems that for the past year or 2, someone is using cyanide to capture a lot of Aussey Tusks.
Because of that they are cheaper... IMO, sorry to say, there is no way that QM wholesaled an Aussey H tusk for $220 (too high) to a lfs customer of theirs.

I think it is unreasonable for you to demand refund due to your hunch that the fish was captured using cyanide. It is impossible to get proof so you are out of luck.

You did not have the fish in optimal condition, notice that he is not in good condition, too small of a QT, moved him several times. He died.
Obviously that fish was not under optimal care while he was under your care. You cannot make a valid conclusion that he died due to cyanide poison and demand refund from a wholesaler. Then you accused them of condone fish capture using cyanide when they don’t agree to a refund. This is not logical or reasonable; especially there were no warranty in the first place.

First, you should release the CAPS lock, unless you really want to yell at us!

I HAD A STROKE AND IT IS VERY HARD TO SWITCH BACK AND FORTH.
I SAW THE INVOICE, THE OWNER IS A FRIEND OF MINE, WE WERE IN THE MARINES, HE WAS IN MY SQUAD IN VIETNAM, WE LOVED EVERYONE IN SQUAD, WE WERE OVER RUN, FIGHTING HAND TO HAND, I WAS SHOT IN THE ARM AND STOMACH, HE WAS SHOT IN THE CHEST. I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR A YEAR MY FRIEND FOR 6 MONTHS. MY FRIEND SHARES EVERYTHING WITH ME, HE EVEN GIVES ME FREE FISH IF THERE IS SOME THING I LIKE. I ASKED HIM TO ORDER FROM QUALITY MARINE AS HE USUALLY USES ANOTHER WHOLESALER. I SAW THE INVOICE.

THE FISH WAS NOT IN SUCH GOOD CONDITION, I HAD IT TWO DAYS, IT JUST STAYED ON THE BOTTOM. I HAVE BEEN IN THIS HOBBY OVER 30 YEARS I KNOW WHEN A FISH HAS BEEN CAPTURED WITH CYANIDE, SO DOES MY FRIEND WHO OWNS THE SHOP, THERE IS NO DOUBT. QUALITY MARINE KNOWS IT, AND THEY USE COLLECTORS LIKE THIS BECAUSE THEY CAN MAKE BIG BUCKS. QUALITY MARINE SHOULD NOT USE THESE COLLECTORS THEY ARE RAPING THE SEA LIFE AND DRIVING UP THE COSTS TO THE HOBBYIST.

There is NO RELIABLE test to detect cyanide used in catching a fish. All you can say is the fish died. Does not mater how long you have been in the hobby, you will not know because there are many reasons why a fish died after capture and shipped 1/2 way around the word. You not any wiser because you DON’T KNOW which fish died of cyanide and which fish died from a numbers of other cause.
Just to let you know I keep and breed fish as long as I can remember and keep Marine fish since 1980. Literally when I first remembered anything it was helping my father breed Oscars and Gold fish.
Cyanide uncouple metabolism and the energy an organism gain from burning these sugar. There are many people, unreliable hobbyists who wrote about how they can tell if they can tell if a fish is cyanide caught, I have yet read anything about this that I consider reliable.
