I'm looking into adding a last fish to my tank, preferably something that is active during the day since the rest are more nocturnal or just never come out of hiding. Tusk is ontop of the list but looking for some experience on this fish.

As of now, there is a lion fish, marine beta, panther grouper and foxface. All relatively the same size and get along. The panther is aggressive but has calmed down since adding the beta.
Snails are ok to go, but the long spine urchin is something I'd prefer to keep and am unsure of its safe with it. Tank is a 90 gal, will be upgrading within 2-3 years and keeping the same fish. Substrate is gravel and there is alot of caves/over hangs and some macros in the DP. Plan on adding some soft corals down the road, maybe sponges, anemones, and a brittle star. The filtration is doing a really good job keeping nutrients steady so the bioload shouldn't be a concern.

Is the tusk a good option to add some activity during the day or will it end up being a problem?

I like tusk fish and would only worry that he will get eaten by your panther grouper later on. Same for the Betta and the Foxface.

The compatibilty of the fish are fine, that is actually a good mix of tank mates. The only concern is tank size, but I know you have considered that with your lion. Btw how is he doing and how is his growth rate. I kept a tusk with a tuxedo urchin with no prob, the spiny is even more resilent. I haven't heard much either way with tusk/urchin compatibility. And yeah that panther will get huge unless you kill it somehow.

He doubled in size, considering he was really tiny when I brought it home ! Mostly been feeding him everyday till he moved to the DP 2 days ago. Gonna be doing every other day now. Very happy with him, and he is is not shy at all.
They all get along, the panther has been more active during the day since he went in, which is nice to see. Might be because his spot got jacked but he will find another, lol.

My Tusk has never harassed any invert in my tank...I had a Picasso trigger that would knock all the snails off the rocks and he would take advantage of that, but would never go after them himself...
