Hey guys,
I have my first phyto culture going and everything looks good.
I was wondering when I decide to harvest, do I top up the containers (2x 2Gallons) with 1.026 salinity water? and if so, will that not keep making the water too salty over time?

Thanks!

I was taught to harvest every 7 days to get it in its active growth phase. You want to use a small amount of old culture (like a cup) with all fresh saltwater and a new/sterilized bag or bottle to reduce the risk of crashing. Also make sure to keep an extra cup in the fridge in case it crashes.

Re:raising salinity, you can remove the same amount of tank water every time you dose phyto. If you wet skin make sure to account for that too.

Not sure what you mean by topping up the phyto container, I don't top up on my phyto cultures with neither rodi or saltwater.

When ready to harvest, I just put a cap on the bottle and put it in the fridge.

I mean when you harvest whatever youre taking from the culture and have to add more water.

no, I wouldn't do that, you will just dilute it.
I believe he means add the water to refill the culture, not diluting the harvest. Once harvested, you obviously would need to refill the phyto culture with more water to keep it growing.

Eventually, yes you'll see salinity creeping up. Since you'll have water evaporate from the culture as it is running. Can test on occasion and add a little RO water to balance that.
