Has anyone ever cracked there Euphyllias skeleton?

Well, I was trying to get a euphyllia off of its plug. Was on there good, finally popped it off. In the process though the skeleton cracked, directly under the bigger of the two heads. It's a full split actually, only thing that kept it together was the head. I glued it together, but he looks very ticked now. Sunken in a great deal. Will he survive?

From the looks of it I think you made an accidental frag? But then you glued that frag back onto the original frag. It should be ok. Just leave it be for now and keep an eye on it in case it decides to go south, in which case toss it asap.

I haven't fragged a frogspawn before, do you just split the head? Tear it?

Also I can't toss it. This frogspawn is one of my favorite corals. If he starts to die, the one head, should I cut him down the middle? And salvage the unharmed head?

Basically you cut under the fleshy part of the branch and take as much of the hard stony part as you can.

I think you should be ok by just taking the part you tried to glue back off If that head dies on you. Just don't damage the fleshy part in the process.

As long as the flesh did not get ripped it should be ok. The structure should calcify again along the crack. Good luck

Well it looks today that the flesh has ripped. He doesn't look to happy. Where the crack is, his tentacles are dark and small. Just going to keep an eye on him, if he gets worse I'll cut that head off...

I just took mine off the frag plug today..didn't crack it but sure was worried I would! It looks ok now!
