Has anyone ever ran 2 skimmers

I am thinking of upgrading my 90 gallon aquarium to a 180. I have a nice DC skimmer rated at 120 gallons. I'm wandering if instead of spending $500+ for a new huge skimmer if I could get a second 120 gallon skimmer. That may save me over $200. Thoughts?

Yes I ran two hob skimmers before on a 75 gallon tank each was capable of up to 100 gallons but the tank was loaded.

Id go with one skimmer and use a huge refugium and marine pure blocks in a. Use a three stage doser w 2 part and be set up to vinegar dose in the 3rd doser.
Also whats the tank inhabitants plan coral dom(sps lps) or fish dominated with corals.

Lps. Mostly. I'm planning a 50g sump with a 20 gallon fug. I plan to have 2 marine pure blocks also.

Yea, you dont need 2 IMO. We see too many too clean tanks already on R2R in the my "coral bleaching threads" lol... If you wanted to trade yours up for a cooler skimmer I could see that just for man fun...

I use two Reef Octopus classic 1000 hob on my 120.

I tried two skimmers once, a Reef Octo and a Deltec, and one always seemed to dominate making the second one worthless. Go with Salty's advice and you'll be fine.
