OK. So a weird one, and I can imagine a lot of you wincing at your screen..

I went to the fish market last weekend. And picked up a paella fish ingredients.
And I was looking at the bag of live calms and. Well thought. Um these are from the sea. I wounder if they will survive in my tank..

So I put 2 in a box. With holes in. And put them in the sump. I did acclimatise them over 2 hours. Mad hey both are alive and breathing..
They've come from South England cold sea. I think they are carpet shell calms..
Should be relatively pest free...

Yup most likely be dead in a day to three max. Get them out because ammonia will rise.

I did think the temp will be to much.. I only kept them for my copper band! I'll open one up and see if she will eat it..

In an attempt to get some Colinis to eat last year I went to the Asian market and bought live oysters on Ice. I threw them in one of my outdoor sump tanks. Some of them lasted more than a few months. I would buy a dozen or more at a time. When I needed to feed I just pulled an Oyster and hit it with a hammer and then gave it to the angels. Oysters on the half shell... Fresh for weeks and weeks.

I’ve done this with clams. Mine lived awhile, eventually died and became food. I did see some months after putting them in though. I would do it again but I need very small clams and you don’t see them that small to often around my area. I just dropped them in and within hours they dig into the sand and I only saw shells later down the road. May still be some in there not sure I didn’t keep count.
