So I went cheap and bought a Jebao return pump off Amazon back in November or 2017 and it stopped working this morning. I get the Er-04 message on the screen. I'm unable to take the pump apart in fear of breaking it.

I've talked to Amazon and they told me to send an email to their warranty department. So I did. I also trued contacting Jebao directly but the call does not go through after a few minutes of listening to the automatic phone system.

Any tips or ideas on how I can get a replacement?

I plan to get a Sicce pump off BRS but I need to save up some cash first.

Did I mention I have 3 of these Jebao pumps...Im sure the other 2 will go out soon.

i dont get. whats so scary about taking it apart? I take mine apart all the time to clean them

I'm not scared too. I've tried a few times. It will not come apart. Next time will be screw drivers, hammers and table vise.

er-04 is impeller is jammed/not running.

have you cleaned it recently? you should def be able to get down to the impeller.

My LFS has a sign in front of the Jebao section stating all Jebao pumps are final sale, no returns allowed. Kinda tells you a bit about the product...

Thank you. No I have never cleaned it. I cannot get the pump apart no matter how hard I pull. Does anyone have a video of taking the pump apart?

looks like its just like my one. where you see the Oring around it. that whole black section pops out with the rotor attached to it. just get something that will fit under or ontop of that oring and pop it up

can see at the bottom that whole rotor assembly pops out

go to 4:30 and see how it pulls out. its not the exact same pump but its kinda the same way the DCP comes apart
Thank you! Are you FishofHex? Love your vids man!!

There are failures with everyone pumps and there are countless posts on the subject.

I personally run Jebao and have for years and never have had a failure.

I had 2 Sicce and both failed. Doesn’t mean they are bad, just means I won’t buy them again.

The issue is buying it from someone other than an authorized distributor. Just like any other product, if you want the warranty you need to buy from an authorized distributor.

I personal will never buy a Jebao product again. To many issues and NO customer service...

if I pay $50 for a return pump every year and a half I am fine with that. I will be bored with the hobby long before it even gets up to the cost of something from ecotech or other overpriced pump

Here is what happens when you buy from an authorized distributor

Also, it’s over a year old and never been cleaned. Warranties have time limits and mechanical devices require regular maintenance.

That being said, the OP should be able to disassemble and clean and see if that’s all that was needed.

I had a hard time too taking off the cover and impeller removal until I put some good amount of pressure. I didn't watch any videos (I should have) but everything came out fine. Luckily I had no issues with jebao equipment.

I have cleaned it the best I could without taking it apart.

I just physically cant take it apart, my name is not Hulk. I will try again tonight. If I need to get the hammer out, I will.

I rather not pay $50 and the pump fail when im away and lose $4,000 in live stock. Nor will I be bored with the hobby anytime soon ;)
