I’ve “rented” sea hares on an off to battle hair algae over the years and enjoy having 1 in my tank. Has anyone successfully kept one long term in their reef and fed it algae pellets or nori?

You'd need to have a tank overrun with algae to meet their nutritional needs. I've kept them in the past but they are extremely effective at decimating algae and so you have to find them a new home. Problem is some people with algae are afraid that if it dies in their syste it will take their tank with them and so they refuse to take it in.

I've never had long term luck with these, but my LFS set me up with an Abalone which goes through the algae just as well. Had it about 5 years now.

Hmmm, I’m having quite the battle with bubble algae right now, any idea if this guy will eat that?

Won’t eat bubble algae. My emerald crabs do a fine job with that
