Has anyone seen a tank like this?!

That's why I was surprised when I saw it. I've never seen it on any tank that's why I asked. He hasn't had any problems the whole 18 months it had water in it. It's a great tank for a great price. The sump is also really different than what I've seen before but I can always replace that.

If the price is right and he had no trouble I would buy it.

Run away. The more seams you have, the more opportunity for a failure (read leak). It's that simple. Those seams will have a lot of pressure on them. If your mounting surface has ANY irregularity, there could be stresses on the seams.

I'm having second thoughts about it because of the bottom. It's different but he hasn't had any problems with it.

If it is going to make you uncomfortable, I'd just pass on it. There are enough things to stress about without intentionally adding something to it :)

I understand. Maybe I can try and contact the builder to ask him why he did it? It's just a beauty of a tank and great price to pass up:(

That's my problem. It kind of caught me off guard so I didn't know if it's been done before. The guy who built it use to work for DAS and is just building custom tanks. The owner of the tank hasn't had any problems.
If no problems then why is he getting rid of it?
