I’m trying to upgrade and get rid of the current USA orbit led for a t5 with metal halide. I don’t think I’m getting the amount of light I need for my nems and soft corals. I’ve read the orbit led just doesn’t have the par. Any thoughts on this t5 set up? I’m trying to avoid a fixture hanging above tank where everyone is watching tv and be distracted by the light.

Several reports of fires with that brand :)

Id look into Hamilton Lighting. Made in the good ol’ USA!

I have one of those, it gets really hot, but if you use the side mount it sits about 6 inches off the tank, light quality was ok, not using it anymore

I have the 24 inch model. I have not noticed any problems with it. The fire reports were from years ago and I haven't heard any new ones. Mine is hanging about a foot over a 40 breeder and I get full spread. I like it better than the reef breeder photon first gen it replaced. Way more pleasing to the eye color wise. I bought mine off of eBay used for $100 dollars and it was still in the original box. The cords suck one for the moon lights one for the T5s and a remote ballast for the halides. From what I've read most people swap out the bulbs. The older models used a ballast that was under driven but the new ballasts are supposed to be better.
