I have a flowerpot coral that is dying so I researched what was the best thing to do. Frag it was my only option to save it so I did. After splitting it theres what looks like worm paths through it. I didnt find a worm cause maybe I mashed it up but what I did find was a oval shaped looking thing. I cant post pictures right now for sone reason. Waiting on admin. To get back with me on why. But when I do I will post some when possible

Ok had to reinstall the app but heres the pictures

I did when I got it bit maybe I didnt leave it long enough. Ive had him for about 4 minths and about a two weeks ago I noticed it dying off in spots

It first started dying from the bottom then went to loosing the top center area. So today I fragged it into five pieces. I can only hope one of them live

Finding rock boring worms when fragging anything is a lot more common than you'd think. I see them all the time.

google stomatella snails and tell us if it looks like that. That is my guess for what it is. If that's true them it is in no way harmful to corals from my experience.

Gonipora are hard to keep past the 6 month mark from what I've seen. I was talking with some reefers today about them and they said they have been coming in more hardy and living longer from Australia. I've not had good luck with them in the past though. I hope it turns around for you.

Interesting. Nothing else comes to mind. See if you can get some more pics if you haven't tossed it already.

The whole ball off the base was riddled with drill holes and we found what looked like some kind of worms in them but when we tried to get them out all we did was mash them alomg with them were the tiny oval shaped things that was in one of the pictures I posted. I have looked and looked online for anything in reference to this and cant find anything. So far one of the frags has already started ooening uo and three ithers have got a few of the stems coming out. The last one dont seem to be doing very well as of yet. Ill get some pictures tomorrow of them and let you know how they are doing. But im positive it is a worm of some type that was killing it. It looked like a apple that had worms that had crawled throught it.

There are plenty of rock boring worms, sponges, and clams. Ever crack a piece of live rock open and you would see them...

They tend not to cause any problems

I have had them in acans before and I might have one acan head die but that's nothing horrible

What ever this was it was coming up through the nase and coming out to eat the fleshy part of the coral
