Has anyone seen this color Cyphastrea?

Hi everyone -

I picked up this little one a week ago and am not sure if this is just bleached out or?? It's more darker grey than white, though. The polyps are orange and there is some orange towards the bottom of the mat. Has anyone ever seen this color Cyphastrea? So far my Google searches has not been fruitful...

It looks like it is trying to turn orange throughout maybe.

Thank you for the reply! So if I just let it be (with good husbandry) it should in theory grow back its original tissue color?

Yes looks like meteor shower. I have one the gray gets a blueish tint when healthy

It seems I've seen the meteor shower with blue tones, and that is what we were told it was! This one has no blue in it, only dark grey. I always, always, always research before purchasing but had a moment of weakness

How long did it take to start growing onto the rock?

I got this piece 5 months ago and it was dead center of the plug not touching the ends. Once it started growing I would say it took about a month to cover the plug and get on the rock. It was so fast growing on the plug I noticed growth everyday. On the rock is still fast but not as fast as on the plug.

Thank you! Well, it's a start! Hopefully mine will take off too once situated. I'm still trying to find where it is happiest in the tank i.e. substrate, bottom, middle.

I have a meteor shower as well and it seems more green in the shade more blue in higher light. Grows like wildfire once it settles in. Mine prefers low light.

Mines likes flow. Enough to move the polyps around occassionally

It still looks to me like it's turning orange... My guess was that it might have been bleached and the tissue is slowly healing?

But now it looks like there's some green showing. Hoping it's not a bacteria or something ‍

Before ya know it it will look like this. Cool, easy coral, high light, low light, it doesn't care.

There's an abalone shell and rocks all fused together in the pic, then some more on the back Tonga branch.

Not to sound like a newbie lol... you mean you *want* it to turn green? What would that indicate?
