Has anyone tried a Turf Scrubber?

How about second hand? I don't have one, but I have two friends that have them. They swear by them and they've convinced me to put one up. I just need to get a container to put it in. Both my friends say they're extremely easy to set up and maintain.

Friend set one up on his 120. He's thrilled with it as a DIY preventative measure.
"anything cheap that I can do to keep growth out of the display is worth it"
He cleans the glass much much less. Lots and lots of growth on the scrubber.
He runs with a skimmer also.
Setback: Depending on design, be weary of splash and salt creep or rusting things.

If you have room to set one up, they do add a lot of benefit to your system. They are a great at exporting nutrients.

here is mine . It has done a lot of good things for my aquarium . Phosphates are the reason I built it but I also have went from cleaning the glass every other day to about once a week . Built out of a 75 gallon tank .
The pvc just pushes into the bulkheads so I can pull the screens out to clean .

The water exits on the left side and then thru a filter sock before going back into the sump. I have never noticed any smell coming from it but I scrape the algea off on a regular basis so it does not start collecting fish poo . BTW thats HA floating inbetween the screens after I let it go a little to long.

I was reading on another site about 1 sq inch of screen per gallon.
I have a 180 Display + about 40 Gallons in the
Frag tank, and about 30 gallons in the sump.
(I don't think you have to count the sump volume)
So That looks like 250 Gallons total and 250 sq inches.
If so I could just make a 24" wide x 12" tall screen
Does that sound correct?
