Having a sand bed or crushed coral or rubble bed is very beneficial to fish though. you could try doing a live rubble bed

A LR bed won’t blow away nor will crushed coral. You would have to siphon crushed coral periodically. My friend says it’s worth it over sand in small tanks (less than 40g) but it isn’t worth it in big tanks because of how hard it is to source. You get tons of microfauna but when u siphon it the water is basically jet black from debris. Not that the debris is bad but you can’t let the microfauna just explode b/c it would like take over the tank And make algae

Is dosing super important? Or no. I might get like calcium blocks btuff showed and I will dose aquarium plant ferts if I get a lot of macros. but Im mainly gonna have caleurpa and random algae from Rocks. Also I might try like taxipholia

It is light color so will reflect light back up to the undersides of corals.

Sounds like a dumb question but think about it lol

Leaning towards bare bottom because I want high flow but still hesitant because the look. Could I somehow glue the sand or something like that to the bottom so that it is hard and won't move around?


EDIT: it is called faux sandbed apparently if anyone else finds this looking for it

You might buy several pieces of window glass and try it out.

I suggest several pieces of glass because you may need to do some experiments on the thickness of epoxy. Also, you may want to test how well the sand grains stay attached to the epoxy.
