I'm guessing this has been posted before but I heard about it recently while taking a tour of Mote and now I think I will give it a shot. If it holds true this is quite an improvement in growth times.

From my understanding this is essentially what reefers have been doing in the hobby already.

Think about those acro frags that are 1/8" tall with 1-2 polyps and 1/4" monti caps.

Not really. This is a process of placing a lot of pieces from the same coral very close together. Once they realize they are all part of the same animal they reach out to fill in the space. According to the video you can make colonies in months vs years.
