I was thinking about buying products from an importer simply for me because I know it is cheaper but that I would need a minimum and possibly a license. Any recommendations or experiences? There’s some very specific things I have in mind that I am just curious about getting mainly some cool animals not often sold like my starfish.

Some importers sell to the public but there will be tariffs, delays and no warranty on product for loss or damage

There's a lot of scammers so be careful. You may be better driving some distance but you do have that fantastic lfs in your area. You have to buy a box and the shipping costs are over 300 a box. Those online coral companies don't look so bad now with the shipping costs.

True I noticed that lol. I know it’s most likely not worth it for a consumer I was wondering though.

What fish store is that?

I used to regularly, but that was 15-20 years ago now. I deal with a importer currently, but he 'offers me advice'. Mainly lets me know who gets what and when through him. More fish that coral, but it helps on prices. As vetteguy says, cavet empetor. You are rolling the dice hard and not the best odds for good specimens.

Not sure if you would be able to work out something with Dr. Mac, but it might be worth talking to him. If nothing else he might be able to point you in the right direction-or explain whether your idea is feasible.
