Has anyone used this before and if so what are your opinions? I won it in a raffle a while back and forgot all about it. I was thinking of changing out my gfo for this if it is worth a try.

Been looking into using this myself, Im a big Aquavitro user and if its anything like the rest of their stuff it should be good. Ill let you know how it works out in a few weeks if you don't try it by then.

I was actually going to try and throw it in my reactor today and see if I have enough flow to use it in there:)I've been doing some reading on it this morning so it's worth a try, especially since I have it laying around lol. But let me know either way, we can see if we have the same results:D

Lol yea my tank is still alive atleast lol. im just adding it slowly to see how it does but so far so good

Was also thinking about buying some of this. Curious as to what the results ended up being?

So far it's been really good, used remediation with it also. I recently just stopped using it due to it working to good. I totally wiped out my nitrates and phosphate on the tank I was using it on. I want to keep some nitrate for the corals so I'm going off line for a bit and then try a smaller amount to see if it will balance

Any updates on your results after using this? How much flow did you have going through? Tumbling.. etc.
Thanks!

I actually decided to stick with the gfo in the end and donated this to my club for the mega raffle. I don't remember who ended up winning it, but hopefully they got more use out of it then I did lol. Sorry that I didn't have any updates for you.

I started using this about six weeks ago after being lazy on water changes. My nitrates were through the roof, upwards of 80ppm. I was doing huge water changes but struggling to get them back down. So much so I got through about three months worth of salt in a few weeks.
After reading about this and seeing that one of my local stores uses it I took the plunge.
Use it as directed and it's really good. It's pricey but seems to last a good while. I've got back to normal water changes and my nitrates are around 10ppm. Algae is gradually being starved and my fish are fine.
Just gradually introduce it into the reactor as directed and use in conjunction with remediation and it works a treat.
Apparently it is obvious when you need to top up with biogen because it gradually dissolves but not needed to yet.
I was told it will take about 8 weeks to get my nitrates down and it's taken 6 for me to be at a happy level.
I'm impressed and won't be going back to rowaphos.
This is cleaner and easier and in my opinion better value for money.
Time for me to introduce the inverts I lost through my own laziness!

Great! One more question! Do you have a good amount of flow going through them? It does say to put them in a fluidized reactor but I'm not sure if they should be tumbling.
Thanks!

They need to be tumbling ideally. I simply emptied and cleaned my reactor and used it. My flow is a good strong one. The instructions say you can use a bag but best to use the reactor. None of the little balls should be sat still so a good flow is needed.
Good luck.

I also got rid of the sponges in the reactor because I found they weren't needed and that some of the biogen was getting stuck in them.
Just done another test and my nitrates are down to 5ppm. I am over the moon with this stuff because I found out the hard way what happens when you get lazy.
I would honestly say that the best two things I have got in the two and a bit years of keeping marine fish are Biogen and an RO filter.
Let us know how you get on.
