Has anyone worked with any non-float style level switches / sensors?

I found a local company to me that has three different types of non-float style level switches / sensors. Level Sensors & Switches For Level Sensing Applications - Gems? Sensors I was most interested in the Plastic Electro-Optic, the CAP-100 &CAP-150, as well as the ExOSense. I was wondering if anyone has used any of these or anything like them.

I know that several ATO systems use sensors just like these, and I was wondering if a DIY ATO would be much more reliable if it did not rely on float switches, that stick / jam easily.

All thoughts, comments, experiences welcome!

Is is just me or does this look a lot like the Tunze Osmolator 3155 optical sensor?

Capacitance probes and swtches are commonly used in chemical solution tanks, wastewater lift station and brine or dirty water situations. They do not work well with ultrapure or RO/Di waters since thye work by electrical conductivity and pure water is not electrically conductive. You may also find the cost adds up when you add things like relays or controllers, DC power supplies things to house it all in or mount it on.
