Has anyones Oregon ME turned yellowish?

I got a small frag last year from someone on here thats suppose to be an Oregon mummy eye. It was a bright green until recently it started turning the mt. dew yellow like I see the original mummy eye pictures doing.

So I'm wondering if I really got an Oregon or the original.

Whatup!

I have the Oregon ME and the Original ME. Both are under t5's getting about 90 par. My Oregon ME is bright green and forming new eyes. My Original is also growing fast and is a nice gold/green color. How much light are you giving it? Any par readings? Did you change anything recently to evoke the color change? Where in Wisconsin are you at? hit me up

mmm ... it might be getting bleached ( too much light ) so move it down or give it some shade.

Oh yea and my Original ME was bright green when I got it. Once it was in my tank it turned to gold within a month. So if you've had your chalice since last year (8 months) the only way it would just turn yellow is if you changed out your old light bulbs or some sort of stressor like that. How has it grown in the last 8 months? What is your maintenance regime or parameters/stability?

IME the original ME turns golden green even under moderate lighting.

Yes I did move my light a little close to the tank. I have a viper 70w MH on my 24 gal nano with a 22K bulb but after the bulb burns in it looks more like 14k. I also just put a blue T5 on there for suppliment.

I did move it more to the shade after it started turning yellowish and also just moved the light back up.
I just wondered if it was possible for it to turn yellowish or if I got the original when it was suppose to be the Oregon.
It had been a nice green all the time until I moved the light closer.

Alpha it was a tiny 1 eye frag when I got it. Prolly 1/4 to 1/2 inch about a year ago. Now it's about quarter sized but still only has 1 eye lol. It seems like now it's starting to take off and grow. Hopefully it will get more eyes soon.

IMO,that sounds liek slow growth to me.Just sayen,not normal for a chalice to staty that small that long unless its a Flame Thrower...lol

I seem to have pretty good growth with my lps....chalices,favias,acans,etc.

Find the right location for them, move them around until you find the right flow and light that the coral likes....some like high light but low flow and vis versa

Feed chalices and as much they will take...the chalice may not sprout new eyes but they will grow more body quick then eyes will come

And just keep an eye on them..if one day they look "skinny" move them and see if they look better

Thats basically how i get my chalices to grow around 1-2 eyes every 2-3 weeks,or less

Obviously certain ones wont grow the exact same, but you can still effect their growth on a small portion

With my chalices,they will grow a bunch of eyes,then the body starts to grow and then the eyes spread out.

Well this was when I got it. Makes me sick to look at that picture cuz the PB did'nt make it.

I think it's grown and it seems to be growing more now. Ive been feeding it lately but do go in spurts with feeding my chalice.

I moved it for the pict as I usually keep it kinda shaded.
When I looked better at it after I moved it to take the picts it doesnt look as yellow as I thought. It just looks a little faded. I think with adding the blue T5 it makes it look a little more yellow to me.

These photos are from 90 par, try to borrow a meter from someone local and get a reading so you can see where you should be

I'm old school I don't care what par it is lol. Ive had one of my reef tanks for almost 30 years now.
If it doesnt look good where I put it I move it lol.

I think I just moved my MH to close to the tank so I moved it back now. I also think adding the blue T5 will help with the color.

I have T5's on my 55 and I think you get much better color with those as you do with MH. I'ts easier for me to feed and such in my nano though and I have no fish in it so thats why I keep them in there.

I was just trying to help you analyze your initial question about whether its the Original or the Oregon. You could use the par meter to judge if your giving it more or less light than me. Then you might be able to tell if its one or the other based on my pictures. I just took those pictures to help you. It was just an idea, lol. I'm jealous of your 30 years of experience. I'm only 27! Par meters are pretty cool tho. Give them a chance one day if you ever have access

I know you were trying to help. I didnt mean anything bad by it sorry. I just meant I'm old school and to lazy to check par lol.

I think it depends on alot of variables such as the color of the bulbs and if you have suppliment bulbs. It's hard to find a good blue MH in a 70w bulb. Mine always start out blue and then burn in pretty white looking. I think it will be better now that I added a blue T5 and I'm running the MH less time each day also.
