I FINALLY had the opportunity to finish my tank rebuild this weekend (previous tank leaked). I let it run for a couple of days to make sure parameters were good before I moved my first coral back into the new tank. I put this GIANT green finger leather in, along with a rock that was covered in ricordea mushrooms. Nothing was showing anything other than minor stress before I put it in the tank. Within 24 hours, the leather looks like this and emitted a huge red cloud that floated around until the filter finally cleared it. All of the mushrooms that were on that other rock? They turned loose, shriveled up, and got chopped up in the power heads within a couple of hours of the“cloud” from my leather.
I’m working on significant water changes again right now and running a carbon reactor , but, my question is this: I assume this guy is completely gone / deceased, right? Not just stressed and angry with the move? Trying to decide if I need to go ahead and remove it from the tank before I do these other water changes. It looks very much dead....... :-(
Hopefully, these will be my only losses from this tank move..... everything else seems just fine in it’s holding tank....
