I have a JBJ 30 gal tank. It was set up with dry sand and rock. To cycle I put a piece of shrimp in the tank. It has been running/cycling now for a month. my readings are as follows
PH 8.0
Ammonia .o
Nitrite .o
Nitrate 10.0 I have taken the higher reading as the API chart is hard to read it looks closer to 5.o
Salinity is 1.026
Temperature is 80.0

The reason I am asking is I never saw an ammonia spike greater than .50 and I have been checking every 3 days. I am willing to wait if necessary as I have tried to do everything by the book.

Sounds like it. The best way to check is to add 2ppm ammonia and if after 24 hours ammonia is still undetectable you're all set to go :)

I agree. Looks like you are ready. Just take it slow on the stocking, adding to many animals to fast could cause a mini cycle.
