I was on the App Store installing the Orphek app on my new phone when I came across another app made by Orphek called “Orphek icon”. This app at least from the pictures looks leaps and bounds better than the horrendous app I have been using for quite some time now. Dose this app work with the Atlantic V4? If so how do you connect it? I cant find any information about this app anywhere.

I have sent an inquiry directly to Orphek. I'll stop back once I get a response. I'm guessing third party based on the "iCon".

This is the reply I received from Orphek. Personally, I'd wait until they release an app officially.

"I know we are coming out with a new app but I am not aware of Orphek posting anything on it. When it is ready we will post it on our news and in Facebook."

Interesting thanks for contacting them. Very strange how they released it on the App Store if the app isn’t completed yet. It still shows up as public on the App Store

Yes I have and its indeed in APP store. Was first placed on Android. The Orphek iCon technology brings built-in Bluetooth + Wifi control allowing you to easily program, control, and monitor your light(s) from your Cell Phone or Tablet, any time and any place you are in the world, where internet access is available. The icons are more user friendly and to my understanding- still in development.

Oh my God!!!!!! If this is true how did I miss this? The app we've been forced to use was a joke. Great lights with a comically putrid control. I'm going to load this and hope it works.

Update: I loaded the new app but I don't see how to connect my lights to it. Right now my old app is totally non functional. My light group won't open and the app crashes after about 2 minutes. I couldn't be more disappointed with how poorly this old app was designed and rolled out.

I believe this new app is for their new lights the Atlantik Icon and NOT the Atlantik V4. Notice ....6 channels as opposed to the current 4 channels. Gateway no longer needed for these.

Did orphek announce new light fixtures?

Hmm. Does this mean V4-G2 is being replaced with a new version? The current one is very good, it's just a shame we're saddled with an awful control.

Ik im hoping I can pic one up for a steal soon, i only need 4 channels more control is just more for me to f up

Here are some of the specifics per ORPHEK:

The new lights will be called the "Atlantik Icon"

1) The Gateway is completely gone now. No longer required.
2) The lights get programmed wirelessly through the app.
The new app is absolutely amazing.
3) The app will be free and easily downloadable on apple and android.
4) the dimensions of the fixture is the same as the Atlantik V4 as is the spread.
5) There are videos on our Facebook group of the app, but no photos have been released yet. Basically it looks the same a a V4, but has a stainless steel top cover.
6) Features never seen on a reef light before.
7) New spectrum.
8) New LED design.
9) 6 channels
10) Dimming in 0.01% increments
11) Full spectrum moonlight.
12) All fans working together all the time with automatic speed control for more even heat distribution, dissipation and more silent operation.
13) Jellyfish mode to wiggle the graph lines so light fluctuates and allows the corals to “breathe” throughout the day and promote the flow of coral nutrients inside.
14) 235 total wattage

2) The lights get programmed wirelessly through the app.
Do you happen to know if it's Bluetooth or is it some sort of wireless access point gateway rolled inside the board now.
