Has there been a case where a used tank failed you?

I bought my first larger used aquarium 6 years ago it was a 90 gallon reef ready tank had it for two years no issues. I bought my dream tank a 180 bowfront that was also used but had to downsize less than a year later because i was moving and ended up with a practically brand new 120 gallon tank (also used) that i still have up and running with cichlids.NOw that i started my reef tank i have a 60 gallon cube i bought used and im in love with it. I guess i have gotten lucky over the years reading the horror stories but you just have to be careful on what you buy go look at it water test it ask questions take pictures and if you have any funny feelings trust your gut but if you look long enough and are patient you will eventually find a heck of a deal

I bought a used 50g acrylic tank around 30 years ago and around the 8 month mark I came home to 3 inches of water in it with a large split seam and the rest of the 40g or so of water was on the carpet, big mess. I had triggers and luckily they survived in the water that was left. Never bought an acrylic tank again.
