Has this hermit been munching my zoas?

So I noticed my hermit on my zoas today. Yes, the rock has lots of dirt on it and I’m sure that’s what my crab is after, but he seems to be peeling the skin of a few polyps. Is he eating my zoas?

Never say never in this hobby, but I would bet he was after something else on the rock or in-between the zoas. They are probably all closed up due to him picking around them.

I see a lot of grit between the polyps. Most likely, he was just picking between the polyps. If you see polyps disappear though, he’d be my no. 1 suspect

its definately possible, I removed all hermit crabs after I found one eating my acan coral, I sat an watched it pull flesh off the coral and eat it, several claw fulls. Never again will I have hermits in my tanks

I too have learned that crabs of any kind in general are not reef safe like they claim to be. I will have only snails in my next tank for sure. They eat my snails at the first chance they get.
