It's sad to see things like these, whoever it may have been. I am sure this became a bigger deal b/c of his celebrity status. Who knows how many homes this happens in every day but we never hear about them. Every one has dark moments in their lives but deserves a second chance, and sometimes a third and maybe fourth chance. I hope he can get it together and do the right thing, not only for himself, but most importantly for his daughters. I know I would give up anything for my family. Material goods and hobbies like reefing can only go so far to make someone truly happy.

It is truly sad to see someone my sister and I idolized as children looking so awful. He obviously needs an intervention and one can only hope that now that this video came out that that will happen. Sorry to be so somber but it was very sad to hear his daughter pleading with him to stop drinking.
I blame Rev and coralnutz for 50%... They brought the Hasslepaly's to high status, then the SPS keepers of the world started adding vodka to their systems to control algae... It's a no win situation with fame and fortune.
Seriously, I don't mean to knock alcoholism, though. I grew up with an alcoholic father (no such thing as a 'dad' when the diet is always liquid). Alcohol is a bane on society. It surprises me how extremely harmful drugs that kill daily aren't illegal, but harmless ones are... Luckily, my father quit about a year ago after having Pancreatitis and a stroke. It's a shame it took that for him to stop, but he now has something to look forward too everyday and a constant reminder-life and no use of his left arm, resp. What floored me is how emotional I got even being full of so much hate in my early years (I grew up at some point and lost the hate and turned it into something). It made me who I am, but if I could have changed his alcoholism, I would in a heartbeat to have had more good memories of him instead of being the bartender and being called names I won't mention in mixed company. I think this thread got a bit deeper than expected (as least than I expected, anyway).

That was his 16 year old daughter & she meant the tape to be an intervention of sorts, so he can see how he really looks. Does anyone know if he was he a recovering alcoholic before this?
i know he has been in vegas doing the producers, i guess not everything that happens in vegas stays there.
