Have you ever eaten urchin? I have once at a sushi bar in Japan. It was truly awful! Thinking about trying it again.

I've had my pink rose pincushion for about 4 years. He's kind of a bulldozer, but works hard keeping the tank clean. Sure he's kind of a PITA, but by now he's kind of a member of the family.

Shortly after I set up my current reef, I moved 2 candy canes from my 29 biocube when I took it down. Despite my best efforts, both declined and died. Recently, I decided to try again. I purchased one sad little head for about $10 and glued it down firmly in the perfect spot. In short order, the head opened wide and split into 2. Awesome! Then the original head produced another mouth in preparation of splitting again!! Nothing can stop me now!!!

So yeah. One morning I wake up to find my happy little candy cane perched proudly on the back of the urchin. I quickly glued it back down. Couldn't have spent more than 12 hours as a captive. After over a week, it's finally starting to open back up, but I can still see skeleton through the new head. Talk about disappointed.

I've had a talk with the urchin more than once about playing nice with others, but apparently it's going in one spine and out the other another. I guess I probably won't eat him. Like I said, urchin is incredibly disgusting. Probably won't even banish him from the tank. But if I could smack him on the nose (noses?) with a rolled up newspaper, I would.

This was some funny reading! I feel for you and your candy cane but what are you going to do when the creatures in our tanks are just being themselves. Haha. I have a pistol shrimp I wish would stop moving half a tank's worth of sand around! Literally all sand moved from one side of my 5g to the other. I put it back only to find it moved again by the morning. Haha.

I feel your pain. I've got a huge engineer goby that rearranges the sand on a regular basis. Opening new tunnels and closing others. It's kind of a pain, but I figure he's keeping the sand stirred up under the rocks where I can't get to it.
