so today i was gluing down one of my corals and there were a few stray strands of glue that drifted away from the rock while i was holding the coral in place. and of all places where does this glue go?! Well my Scopas tang and my Bluelined rabbitfish thought it was food so they tried to eat it. Unfortunately now the rabbitfish has its mouth glued completely shut and hes just too shy and too fast for me to try to catch him!! Meanwhile my scopas had most of it mouth glued shut but was somehow able to free his bottom jaw, im just hoping he can scrape away most of the glue by rubbing it against the rock as hes tried to do already. i hope my fish can free themselves so they can eat again or else this is going to be the most painful thing to watch. What are the chances that this would happen, let alone to two fish at once?!!! soo bummed right now

I have heard of it happening and has almost happened to me one more than one occasion. I have heard of fish dying from it as well. Sorry bro.

my fish are just too fast sadly.. It might sound weird but I have a theory that the fish might actually sense that you are trying to catch them even before you make your first attempt with the net. because on multiple occassions when ive tried to remove one of my fish for whatever reason they just know not to come up toward the surface even though all the other fish feel perfectly fine at that moment.

were the pumps and powerheads off? I know the glue I have says to turn everything off when gluing. Sorry to hear about your fish, would removing the glue with tweezers cause any skin to come off? that would worry the heck out of me.

To be honest mines were not off but I think the piece that they messed with might have dripped off the bottom of the coral as I lowered it back into the tank. But I can't be 100% sure about it

My friend had this happen to his yellow tang, the tangs mouth was glued shut one day and not the next so i would just keep an eye on em

Thnx guys for the kind words because it's at times like these when you get the feeling that nothing ever seems to go right. I'm just gnna keep hoping and keeping an eye on them because that rabbit fish is currently my most favorite fish in the tank lol

Keep hoping we are all with you... I had to chase a fish down in a 90 before and I had to drag all the rock out of the tank to do it... then rebuild the tank... I hate that... why can't they just come when called!!!

Might try a fish trap. I've heard of them being made out of plastic bottles.

The lure of a fish trap is food, if they can't open their mouths, I doubt it will work. hopefully it will wear off on it's own.

Woooooooooooohhhhhhoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just thought that i would keep all of you updated because of your kind words.. Guess what?! My Rabbitfish was able to chew through the glue a few minutes ago and then immediately began to chow down on the mysis cube i threw in for him!!!! im soo happy!! the tang is also able to eat now as well, there is till some glue on his teeth but he can eat fairly easily too!! sorry for the bad picture quality i was kinda excited so i kept moving my phone around
