What I am not liking is the absence if information on how it chills the water and what components it uses.
At "72watts" rated power consumption it's not going to chill anything bigger than a 5 gallon tank in cool room
either of you or anyone else know of any chillers on the less expensive side good for up to 40 gallons?
Yep, it's called a "fan". You'd be surprised how much a small fan blowing across the water can control temps. Hook it up to a temp controller and it will turn on and off as needed.
Beyond that you're dropping $400-500 on a JBJ mini-chiller. Good or cheap, pick one.
