My hand got a bit heavy feeding recently and noticed my phosphates climbed up to 0.2 and nitrates to 25. Corals are not happy. I did the largest water change I could on my 130 which was about 50 gallons.

Nitrates are down to 15 but phosphate are still 0.19. I don’t have room for a refugium and I usually use GFO.

I came across Blue Life Phosphate RX. Is it just basically lanthanum chloride? Seems a lot easier than messing around with gfo

For the cost, I prefer chemipure blue or elite which last a lot longer than a one time application

Yes I have used it in the past (I use "Agent Green brand). It works very well and near immediately. Takes very little. A single bottle should last you a lifetime so it is definitely the cheapest option (lanthium chloride in general).

I would recommend starting out at well below the dose needed to lower by the amount you want it to drop. It is very easy to overdose and hit 0.0. Also make sure you drip it into a very low micron filter sock to capture the precipitate it creates.

I just tried Phosphate RX this week. As mentioned, use 5 micron filter socks and put the drops inside the socks. Also, I recommend breaking up the doses to twice a day and less than prescribed on the bottle.

The results were as expected, I went from .49 to .15 ppm easily. It did recover to .25 and I'm going to attempt another day of dosing.

It is just Lanthanum Chloride, right? If so, then just read up on using LC. It is safe and cheap if you do it right, but you can overdose and too fast, so keep it slow. I use LC when I get new (new to me... so used) rock and need to get all of the neglect (bound phosphate) out of them.
