Your thoughts on using this filter for a 20 gallon high reef tank. thanks all

Theyre the best hang on filter imo. I use the tidal 110. They surface skim, have room for any media you want, and they dont splash water like other hobs.
+1, They are the best/highest quality HOB I’ve used. Much more ideal for marine with the surface skim

I'm running two cheapie HOBs on a 40 gallon but have the Tidal 75 in my Amazon wishlist for when one of my cheapies fails.

I think another selling point for the Tidal over many others is the self-priming pump,,, but that does mean that the pump is in the housing inside the tank (((so more of the overall unit is visible inside the tank than other HOBs where only the fill tube is inside the tank))). Doesn't bother me and personally, I think the self-priming feature is nice to have.

Pulled the trigger on the Tidal 35. Thinking about adding Poly-fil into the Tidal with the Seachem Matrix carbon and Purigen. Your thoughts and thanks all.

I haven't used the 35 but I've used the 55. Decent hob. I like that it's self priming, quiet, and skims the surface. However, if you any resistance to the flow, you get a lot of bypass. The filter has a purposely made bypass around the filter media which is a bit ridiculous. It defeats the purpose of a filter.

I use two 110s on a 75 planted freshwater. They are the best HOB I've ever used. I like aquaclear but these are better. As long as you keep the water level high they are very quiet but it'll wake the dead when it starts to cavitate. The self priming feature is awesome. I run only matrix in mine and have no issues and I've never had to rinse them in the last two years.

Added to the filter Poly-Fil in a mesh bag and activated carbom in a mesh bag. Looking good and thanks all.
