I also moved a acro up because I thought he would like a little more light he wasn’t Brown I just thought his colors could intensify. And moved this one down to his spot

Prams
Ph 7.8
Mag 1320
Alk 11.2
Calc 440 I dose 2 part to keep them steady and they always test at these
Po3 .4 it was higher and I’m now using some gfo in a media bag has been looking better for the last week I’ve been using it
I do weekly water changes 5 gallons using coral pro salt tank is established for 3 years and I’ve had it for 4 months
The acro that is infected is a cornbread atomic fireball

It looks like a smooth skin acropora, they can be sensitive to dips. How's the nutrients in the tank? With alk that high and intense lighting you want to make sure you have some nutrients.

Decent I’ve never really had a issue with nutrients I feed zoo plankton and use the kz nano system and feed a half cube of mysis every other day

Unfortunately that coral is a goner.

What did you dip them in? Did you did all corals for the red bugs, just SPS or what?

He was fine yesterday

This is a problem with acropora. Unfortunately, sometimes the just don't like something and RTN. There are lots of instances where there are causes for this and the reefers just don't know what went wrong, but I've seen lots of cases where one acro just doesn't like a system and RTNs.

You mention you've had this tank for 4 months, but it's 3 years old? Did you buy the whole setup used from someone else? If so, I would count this as a 4 month old tank. A big part of what makes reef tanks work is stability. Moving the tank, as well as having someone else maintain it, changes that stability.

It's also possible there could be pests in the display that missed the dip, and they started chowing down on the acro after you put it back in the tank. It's really hard to tell because there are so many variables in play.

Yes I bought it used up and running used all his rock and sand and water and his corals, the only thing I did was upgrade some stuff like add a mp10. You can see my build thread for more info

My prams have always been stable my phosphate was always a little high some I’ve been running some gfo and that has fixed it

I mean the one in the picture is dead. I would have to say that dipping it killed it, since it had been fine for 6 weeks. It is very possibly that the red bugs weakened it greatly and that it just could not do with any more stressors. I would certainly be paying attention to the red bug issue. Just dipping the coral may not have eliminated the problem.

I had thought being from a well known vendor the coral would have been pest free
The chances are that the red bugs came on the SPS that you bought, but it is possible that they were on something else. However,
DIP EVERYTHING BEFORE IT GOES INTO YOUR TANK!!!!!!!!! Trust me, I've seen red bugs, black bugs, zoathid eating nudibranchs, monitpora eating nudibranchs, sea spiders, acropora eating flat worms, planaria, bobbit worms, mantis shrimp, pistol shrimp, fire worms blah blah blah blah blah.... I don't care if the heavens open and Jesus comes down on a cloud and hands you a frag, YOU DIP IT!!!

Now, you should get your hands on some Interceptor.
