Having Major GHA problems and tried everything

Hang in there brother, my tank is a little older then yours and I have gone thru GHA, cyan, crazy nitrates, and had most of my coral die off. I know it seems like everyone else's tank is thriving, while you are struggling....but it is really just paying our dues to the reef gods! Lol I take Paul B's advice..,. If something is going wrong, then it's an opportunity to learn and fix it.
I had the API kit too... Not the best. Now I have a sailfert for nitrates and a Hanna checker for phosphates.
Maybe your light is not suited for chaeto? My first batch died because of bad light. My new batch is growing with a new bulb.

Good luck,
Mike

Mike, is 6,000k good for the fuge/ cheato? That's what I have going, it grows the GHA like crazy in my fuge so much so u can see a difference daily.

Johnny, that light is good. I think you are still feeling the effects of using tap water in the beginning...might take a few water changes to get
things moving in the right direction.....but no matter what, with a new tank your going to have out breaks till things settle in. You could try
some Chemi-Pure elite.....it has some gfo in it.....easy, cheap and quick way to get some gfo going. But again....I think you need to do some decent
water changes to get your nutrient levels down.....I think what is going on with your chaeto is that the GHA is sucking up all the nutrients at a quicker rate then the chaeto can. Think about it this way, every time you take the GHA out of your tank, you are also exporting these excess nutrients, and eventually as long as your pro active at reducing them, the GHA will use the excess nutrients up and then you can move on to cyano or something...LOL ;)

Yea I think the overwhelming effects of GHA has just got me over thinking things, I'm sure I dident have to run out and buy all this stuff so fast- RO/DI, fuge, reactor, UV. But it's good I did in the long haul I'm sure of it. Right now I only have like 3 fish in the tank, so my bio load is nice and low. I'm just gonna let my tank do it's thing and run for a few weeks before I add anymore, honestly I kinda got the itch for coral so might not even add anymore fish and just get started on corals. Got 2 small zoas in there now. Been looking very healthy for about 2 weeks now so I must be doing something right
