So i bought a Radion G2 a month ago. I was running T5 before and everything was looking good. all my SPS was starting to color up real nice and ones that already looked good was holding the color well.
Every since I switched it seems all my sps just as slowly been looking uglier. I have 1 over my 40 breeder with the Wide angle lenses. I am not running it super powerful burning corals or anything. I have it at 65% because of the wide angle lenses. all my parameters are in check
Salinity 35ppt
Nitrate .25-.75
Phosphate .02-.04
PH 8.1
Calcium 450
Alk 9
mag 1360
temp 79
I dose Bionic daily to keep alk and calcium in check
I also does Red sea reef energy for past month and half and I was getting good color and polyp extension under T5 but under radions not so much. I have gone LED - T5 - this Radion and now I keep wondering if I should just go back to T5 again

LEDs are brighter than advertised.

The Radion uses Cree LEDs so your spectrum is good.

Its common for SPS corals to change colour after any lighting change.

In most cases with higher intensity light the corals eventually colour up better than before.

Its always best to take a before and after PAR reading whenever you switch lights.

As long as your not seeing any bleaching I would let them adjust to your current settings and then slowly bring the light up.

As is its about a 175-250 watt MH equivalent at full power.

but I used some cheap chinese LED fixture when I first setup tank and it did a better job coloring up then the radions are doing and my T5 held and gave good color. but the radions have done nothing but decline colors and my strawberry shortcake frag is like on its last leg it looks like. nothing is bleaching just losing color and polyp extension

I am going to give it another month to see if things improve. if not I may go back to T5 again

The Cheap Chinese Fixtures use the 450-460nm Royal Blue for growth. Their whites are not as good as the Cree are close to full spectrum and much more efficient. .

The big difference between the two is the efficiency of the Chinese fixtures have much to be desired and they simply dont last.

I've seen a lot of tanks with ours, the Radion and the AI. All have had great results. They all use a similar Primary Mix of Cree LEDs.

T5s do work but they are expensive in the long run. I would give it some more time and keep your water parameters perfect.

I've noticed a negative response in my corals from switching from TM Salt to a less expensive brand. I went back to TM immediately...There are a lot of different things that can cause your corals to react they way they are. I do know from my personal experience is that once acclimated Corals do just as well under quality LEDs as the do under MH or T5
