Hey guys. I'm the nube here. I've been lurking now for a couple months doing research and soaking up all the experience and knowledge in these forums. First and foremost thank you to all who contribute. I'm hoping someday I will be able to as well. So I am having problems balancing the water level between my return pump and overflow. There are no live stock in the tank. In fact it was intended to be just a freshwater leak check. Im using the durso and I have a 1900GPH variable speed pump in a 120 gallon. the sump is a trigger ruby 36. Any advice on how to get rid of the waterfall in my living room would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to R2R!

Are you getting the “Durso flush”? It fills up and then whoosh! It all drains quickly?

I was at first but I overcame that by allowing more air in.

It sounds like I'm running a bath down in the sump

I’m guessing the drain is not under water? Dursos are never totally silent due to the turbulent flow of water in them. You shouldn’t have an issue maintaining the level though. That means your flow is speeding up in the drain at some point.

Thank you very much sir! I'm pretty sure that I have it now. definitely a balancing act. I'm pretty sure my drain system is poorly designed. I'm trying to regulate that flow with ball valves and they are not designed for regulating.
