Hey yall, I have been to Oahu a number of times, and snorkeled more than I can count. Unfortunately I got into the reefing hobby late and didn't know what I was looking at! I am kicking myself because while we were snorkeling recently, near Wailupe Beach (where our rental was) I saw these amazing corals. They looked like zoanthids or maybe palythoas (only a year in, still new at this) but they grew in small clusters. They had a black base and where green at the mouth. It's killing me that I am unsure of what they were because they were everywhere. Anyone know what I am referring too? Sorry I didn't get a photo, hoping a local reefer can help!
